Crawfish

Crawfish is one of our favorites! This red hunk of love has the sweetest character and the most expressive eyes! HIs beginnings were less than ideal, but this diamond in the rough has been polished into an absolute gem. He's wonderful with dogs, cats, and kids, and doesn't have an aggressive hair on his body. He enjoys an occasional walk or frolicking with friends, but his favorite things are being by your side and letting you hold his hand,

Crawfish came to us very unexpectedly: a Fort Worth resident arrived at our home with Crawfish in the back of his truck. Crawfish had been left at the man's neighbor's apartment after it was vacated. He and his family took Crawfish in, but his landlord despises bully breeds and was charging him $100 per day that he had the dog. His work schedule didn't allow him to bring Crawfish to the shelter, and he begged us to take him to the shelter for him. Knowing that the alternative was likely abandoning the dog, we acquiesced, but couldn't fathom taking Crawfish to the shelter. He was extremely fearful, had fly strike on his ears and some scars on his face, and needed TLC. After refusing to leave his crate for almost three days, we coaxed him out and spent one-on-one time with him in the yard. The result: kisses on the face, booty scratches, and the reveal of his honey-sweet personality. Crawfish loves other dogs, kids, and is cat friendly. He is about 2 years old and is now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. He is the best of boy and loves his crate, hasn't shown any food aggression, walks well on a leash, and sits for treats. Crawfish currently weighs 65lbs but we are slowly packing on the pounds. Ideally he should weigh around 70-75lbs. We are so grateful this sweet boy ended up in our care, because in a shelter environment, his personality would have remained hidden and he likely would have been overlooked.
